So, where were we... it's been a while since I've had a few minutes to just sit and do nothing. I have no immediate duties or responsibilities; just waiting. This is a feeling I haven't felt in a long time. So, here's an update.
Today is Beth's 30th birthday. We figured what would be more fun than for us both to take the day off and go have a baby (hence, the article's title). Beth is sleeping after having an epidural and her water broken. She's feeling good now. She's all in position, having contractions, the baby is moving down the chute, and the cervix is thinning as it should be. I am hoping she'll deliver in a couple hours so I can get her birthday dinner from Outback (per her request). I'm playing chess online, doing homework, and waiting for the cafeteria to open in 15 minutes!
We are both missing our little boy, who is at Grandma's. We're sure he's having a blast because when we asked him last night if he wanted to sleep at his house or Grandma's, he immediately started kissing us good-bye. He's only two, but it seems like he is getting old way to quickly.
Timeout for lunch. 4:23pm
Return from lunch 5:15pm
The doctor just came in to check on Beth at about 5:30p and she was at 9cm... so that was that and 29 minutes later, McKenzie was born. It happened really quickly. 7lbs 4oz and 19.5" long.
We are very excited, and we miss Ethan. We've decided not to bring him to the hospital until we go home in two days. He can go home with us.
Let the circus begin.
