Ethan had his first soccer game on Saturday. He plays in a boys 5 and under league. The cutoff date was 2 weeks after his birthday, so, at 3, he’s one of the younger kids in the league. Ethan says he likes playing and that his dad has become the assistant coach. I have to say that we’ve had trouble helping him make the distinction between soccer and football. When the kids bunch up with the ball, Ethan starts sweeping kids down with his terradactyl wings. It’s not like that’s all he wants to do; Ethan does actually kick the ball. In fact, he took the ball goal to goal and punched it right to the back of the net… sure I’m overlooking the fact that the referee had blown the play dead. The highlight was when Ethan gleefully trotted back to his position after a play and slapped the 14-year-old referee on the ass! Two games each week through February — expect some great video clips.
